I think the future of the artist / fan relationship may lie in the app. With the explosion of the “smartphone” as well as the tablet, I could just imagine the replacement to the physical cd cover and lyrics sheet we used to covet becoming the personal app. Complete with store, discography, lyrics, video etc. Even next generation video game consoles would be compatible. Maybe this is me thinking ideal because that kind of access oozes of potential monetization. Oh well, back to earth, scarce gigs, and free music. Gotta love it!
